Portpatrick Through The Ages
R R Cunningham, 1985 revised ed.  4to, grey card covers printed in red & black, 32pp, 12 ills inc several photos and sketch maps of 1750, 1808, 1840, 1865 and 1977, good bibliography of sources inc The Book of Galloway (see below).   Formerly known as Portree, and for a few years in the 17th century known at Port Montgomery, this former fishing village became important due to its command of the shortest sea-route from Ireland to Britain.  Slight damage to foot of front cover due to removal of label, corners dogeared, but at least the contents are clean.  On balance, G.  (ref 1636)  *£4.00

The Book of Galloway
James Anderson Russell, 1963 rep of the 1st (1962) ed. 274pp inc index, map frontis, 56 other ills, many of them photos. Scotland's most distinctive province, according to my gazetteer, consists of the old counties of Wigtown and Kirkcudbright. VG though spine is faded and d/w is missing. (ref 7970) £12.00
